My mom went to a home show, and came across this dog food. It is delivered to your door, and she really likes that idea. She asked my opinion, and I told her that it probably wasn’t any better quality than the Kirkland brand from costco. It does have 24% crude protein, which I believe is much higher than costco.
The cost is for 40lbs.
What do you guys think?

There are two things I don’t like……number one is that it has Menadione Sodium Bisulfite Complex, which is a synthetic vitamin K and it is known to cause a plethora of health issues…..most good foods don’t use it. http://www.dogfoodproject.com/index.php?page=menadione
The other thing is beet pulp. Beet pulp is what is left over after sugar is removed from sugar beets…..enough sugar can remain that it can be problematic for dogs prone to yeast infections and it is also known to be hard on the kidneys.
24% protein is average. I believe the Costco food has a similar protein content, For $59 for 40 pounds, you can do better and find a food without Synthetic K and beet Pulp.
Edit: Sorry, I have to correct something someone said. Lamb meal is not bad, it is simply meat after the water has been removed so a pound of lamb meal is much more meat than a pound of lamb. In a high quality food, meal is a desired, good ingredient. I’d say 99% of holistic, premium foods contain some kind of meat meal. It is NOT by-products by any stretch of the imagination.
Honestly, there are much cheaper foods of same or better quality. I would not buy it at that price. They are charging a premium for home delivery. If she has a quality pet store at a reasonable distance from home, she is better off getting her food there.
no… there is better dog food for a lot less
No I wouldn’t for these reasons: millet, dried beet pulp, natural flavor & beets. Grain, filler, unknown flavor, filler. Other than those its a decent quality.
What’s up with the catfish meal? For that price she could feed Innova Evo. A 40lb bag of it is $60 and it is a lot better than whatever this stuff is.
Not worth your money. Lamb meal is whats left after they boil the lamb down. The by-products. It can include bones, muscles, etc. Also chicken fat is a really poor protein/fat source. Im not sure about the Costco brand, but for that price you can buy Wellness (which is made from human grade food) and your dog will be healthier.
Personally, I would look for something way better, especially for that price.
Stick with the kirkland. It is better quality.
if she wants to switch, consider a higher quality. Like Taste of the wild. You could get really any dog food shipped to you. Possibly for free if you gather enough people in a co-op and order directly from the company. I am a member of a co-op for raw feeders and the co-op orders around 1000lbs of food total. A lot of people. Try and get one started in your area or contact local places that sell the food to see if they will ship. maybe Kirkland can be shipped.
The moisture is to high for my liking. The protein is good if you have a dog with high energy that gets a lot of exercise but I wouldn’t suggest it for a older or lazy dog.
The ingredients look really good. I don’t like the "lamb meal". The first ingredient should be some sort of actual meat (chicken, lamb, beef). Overall it’s not bad, but I wouldn’t pay $59 for it.
The ingredients aren’t the worst you could do (but they’re sure not the best either), the price seems exceptionally high for what you’re getting.
I’m pretty sure I could get multiple different brands of grain-free foods for that price…or darn close.
