THE VET SUGESTS ONE HIGH IN FIBER.BUT COULDNT THINK OF ANY OFF HAND.DOES ANYONE KNOW OF ONE?IWAS FEEDING HER EUKANUBA PUPPY FOR SMALL DOGS, but she is 9 yrs.old and wasnt getting the right vitimins from it. THEN I SWITCHED TO BENIFUL DRY ,SHE REALLY LIKES IT,BUT IT ISNT REALLY THAT HIGH IN FIBER. THEN I SEEN THE BENIFUL PREPARED THAT COMES IN A CONTAINER AND LOOKES LIKE BEEF STEW I THOUGHT SINCE SHE HAS ALWAYS LIKED TABLE FOOD SHE’D LIKE IT, IT WAS HARD TO FIND,THE ONLY PLACE THAT HAD IT WAS WALMART.BUT SHE TURNED HER NOSE UP AT IT,AND MY 22 LB. CAT DEVOIRED IT,HE LOVES IT,NOW MY CONCERN IS WILL IT HURT A CAT TO EAT DOG FOOD. ANYWAY,I HAVE GONE ON LINE TO TRY TO FIND A GOOD FOODFOR MY DOG,AND CHECKED OUT THE BENIFUL ,BUT ONE SAYS BENIFUL IS GREAT,AND ANOTHER SAYS IT IS NOT GOOD.PLEASE SOMEBODY HELP ME.THE LACK OF A GOOD FIBER FOOD,HAS RESORTED IN MY DOG HAVING TO HAVE SURGERY A FEW WEEKS AGO,FROM AN INFECTED GLAND.
There may be things that you can add to your dog’s current diet to increase fiber intake, so ask your vet. Do not go around changing the food a lot, as this can cause pickiness and intestinal upset.
Also, while it may not exactly hurt the cat to eat the dog food, I would avoid it. And it is definitely not ok for the cat to solely eat the dog food. It does not contain enough taurine, and cats cannot make their own.
Eagle Pak, Blue Buffalo, Canidae, and Flint River Ranch are all excellent foods. Avoid Purina, Iams, and the supermarket brands like Ol’ Roy.
