purina EN dog food for gastro issues?

My 1 yr old aussie was recently hospitalized for pancreatitus, the vet put him on the low fat high fiber dog food Purina EN. He had been eating Nature’s Variety Prairie. She thinks the fat content (14%) is too high for his system. I was wondering if anyone knows of a better low fat high fiber commercial dog food?

Most of us have enough common sense not to try to out guess a vet that has actually examined the dog, when all we have to go on is very incomplete information given over the internet.

    Hello

So far the purina dog food would be a good choice but it maybe pricey? Other than the high fiber and low fat dog food, I would recommend the following:
    (1) Your dog is 1 year old, you should feed him 2 meals a day

    (2) Try not to feed your dog immediately before or after exercise and allow an hour to pass between feeding and activity. This helps to prevent the risk of swelling or twisting of the stomach.

(3)Your dog should be fed in a quiet place away from interruptions and from where you eat. Don’t allow children to interrupt the meal or they may be mistaken as a ‘predator’ trying to steal food, which could lead to an aggressive reaction. If you have other dogs in the household, feed them separately to avoid bullying and fighting.

    (4) Try to avoid feeding table scraps and titbits. To do so will upset your puppy’s nutritional balance, and can often be dangerous. Raw meat, in particular, can be infected with bacteria, and despite tasting so good, chocolate is a toxic to their system and should always be avoided.
