My dog has had bad constipation since we swapped him to adult food at the start of the month and the vet has suggested we try a high fibre diet, but all the foods she recommended are tested on animals. The place we were getting our puppy food from don’t do a high fibre alternative, so any suggestions, or recommendations, would be great.
She also mentioned that diet food is a good alternative to be fed in conjunction with normal food, since that is good for bowel movement, so any suggestions on doggy diet food is also good!
Not talking about taste testing, talking about vivisection…
You only need to add bran to his food. Bran is Fibre and aids constipation in people too.
You can buy it from a pet supplies or a supermarket.
Put 2 or 3 dessert spoonfuls in his food daily.
What a stupied vet you have. I would find a new one.
Edit: If he is a Yorkie then 1 dessertspoon.
I can’t answer that, I am in the U.S. and only know of high fibre dog foods here.
However, I am wondering how you expect to know a dog food is good if it was "not tested on animals"? I should think you would want to know that the food you feed your dog has been tested on animals and found to keep them well nourished.
Not to sound snarky, but I honestly don’t know how dog food couldn’t be tested on animals. I mean, who else is going to make sure the food is good? I sincerely doubt they would hire humans to eat dog food to make sure it’s good. They probably say tested on animals because they could get in trouble otherwise, but they most likely really mean that dogs at one point tried the food, and they changed the taste depending on whether or not the dogs liked it.
look on petplanet.co.uk, i get my dog food from there and there’s free delivery on orders over 29 pounds.
look for a food without by-products i found james wellbeloved dog food is good or burns dog food is another good dog food.
how do you want a dog (animal) food that is not tested on animal
It’s dog food, animals eat it, they are all tested on animals, because it’s meant for animals.
Our dog had some probs like that. We give him 4 ounces of beef skirt. The vet suggested crumble in a Wheatabix and add some warm water, chop up meat and mix. He loves it. His toilet is now perfect. Our friend tried it same thing happened. Give it a try. Dave
